Impact of UV-irradiation on electrical impedance spectroscopy of benign nevi: study protocol for a prospective, controlled, clinical study
نویسندگان
چکیده
INTRODUCTION The clinical and histological changes of nevi after ultraviolet (UV) irradiation have been studied in detail. In contrast, the impact of UV irradiation on electrical impedance spectroscopy scores of nevi has not been investigated. However, for physicians, it is essential to know the extent to which changes in electrical impedance spectroscopy scores of nevi may be attributed to seasonal effects of UV irradiation. METHODS This is a prospective, controlled, clinical study evaluating the impact of UV irradiation on the electrical impedance spectroscopy scores of benign nevi in 50 patients undergoing phototherapy. To this end, benign nevi of patients with a medical indication for phototherapy will be measured by electrical impedance spectroscopy before, during and after UV irradiation. At the same time, non-irradiated nevi of the same patient will be measured to account for changes over time that are independent of direct UV irradiation. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION Ethical approval was obtained from the ethics committee of the medical faculty of the University of Heidelberg (ethics approval number S-279/2017). The design and the final results of the study will be published and made available to the public. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER DRKS00012456; Pre-results.

Review Article: Application of Electrical Impedance Spectroscopy in Bladder Cancer Screening
Introduction Bladder cancer is the most common malignancy in elderly people and most bladder cancers are transitional cell carcinomas (TCC). Bladder pathology is usually investigated visually by cystoscopy and this technique can represent different conditions ranging from simple inflammation to flat CIS. However, biopsies must be taken from the suspected area to obtain diagnostic information. T...

The present study, describes the structural, electrical, and the photocatalytic activity of sol-gel synthesized TiO2- ZnO nanostructure. The synthesized mixed oxide nanostructure is characterized by XRD, FTIR, Raman, UV-Vis, FESEM, DLS and Impedance Spectroscopy analyses. In addition, photocatalytic activity of multiphase TiO2 (TAB)-ZnO (ZW) nanostructure is analysed using...
متن کاملElectrical Impedance of Human Skin and Tissue Alterations: Mathematical Modeling and Measurements
The overall aim of the studies in this thesis is twofold. One is oriented towards calibrating a classifier in differentiating between malignant melanoma and benign nevi of the skin. The other concerns the development of a mathematical model to ascertain the validity of the electrical properties found in literature and to aid in the design and operation of electrodes as well as to broaden the kn...
متن کاملEvaluation of electrical impedance spectroscopy as an adjunct to dermoscopy in short-term monitoring of atypical melanocytic lesions
BACKGROUND Early detection of melanoma is vital for treatment outcome and survival. Short-term sequential digital dermoscopic monitoring (ST-SDDM) involves the capture and assessment of dermoscopic images of one or more atypical melanocytic lesions (AMLs), at baseline and after four months, in order to detect early morphologic changes. Electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) is a diagnostic too...
متن کاملElectrical Impedance Spectroscopy as Electrical Biopsy for Monitoring Radiation Sequelae of Intestine in Rats
Electrical impedance is one of the most frequently used parameters for characterizing material properties. The resistive and capacitive characteristics of tissue may be revealed by electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) as electrical biopsy. This technique could be used to monitor the sequelae after irradiation. In this study, rat intestinal tissues after irradiation were assessed by EIS syste...
